Ceiling fan wiring is not only quick, it is easy too!

You don’t have to be an electrician to do your own ceiling fan wiring.  Many people are afraid of installing their own ceiling fans because of the perceived difficulty of the wiring.  In fact, installing ceiling fans is quite straight forward.  Just remember to turn off all electricity to the box before starting your ceiling fan wiring.

First step in installing your ceiling fan it to take down the existing light fixture.  It is important that you check the existing electrical box and ensure it is able to support the weight of the ceiling fan.  Be sure the box is metal and not plastic.  A plastic box will not be able to support the weight of the fan.  Before doing any ceiling fan wiring, assemble the fan completely.

Ok, you are ready to start your ceiling fan wiring.  Connect the black house wires to the black fan wires and white house wires to white fan wires.  If your ceiling fan comes with a light, the power to the light is often supplied through the blue wire.  Be sure to ground the fan to both the metal box and the fan.  Most importantly, read all directions that come with your ceiling fan before you start installing it.
